12:40 PM EDT, 04/30/2024 (MT Newswires) -- The IG Metall labor union will start negotiations with Carlyle Group ( CG ) in May over the firm's plan to acquire a majority stake in Germany's Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems, Reuters reported Tuesday, citing a newsletter it had seen.
The sides reportedly held preliminary talks over the sale, with the union agreeing to quickly reach an agreement with Carlyle. However, IG Metall wants the German government to be involved to ensure Thyssenkrupp's naval shipbuilding activities continue as planned.
Thyssenkrupp is looking to sell a quarter of the business, the report said.
Neither Carlyle Group ( CG ) nor IG Metall immediately responded to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
