Apr 4, 2025 6:15 AM

08:47 AM EDT, 04/04/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet's (GOOGL, GOOG) Google ( GOOG ) and Amazon ( AMZN ) are seeking to weaken Microsoft's ( MSFT ) domination of government software contracts, Bloomberg reported Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.

The technology companies' lobbyists are highlighting criticisms by Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency that the awarding of software contracts is seen as a potential source of waste and overspending, the report said.

As part of an expanded lobbying campaign, trade groups representing the interests of Amazon ( AMZN ) and Google ( GOOG ) are reaching out to DOGE contacts at various federal agencies as well as lawmakers who back Musk's efforts, the people said.

Microsoft ( MSFT ), Google ( GOOG ), and Amazon ( AMZN ) did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
