05:48 AM EDT, 08/29/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google ( GOOG ) is pondering the construction of a large data center in Vietnam, Reuters reported Thursday, citing an unnamed person briefed on the plans.

The company is considering building a "hyperscale" data center close to Ho Chi Minh City, the source told the news outlet.

The size and timeframe of the potential investment were not reported but Reuters' source said that discussions are ongoing and the data center could be ready in 2027, according to the report.

Google ( GOOG ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
