12:11 PM EDT, 05/22/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google ( GOOG ) is facing an antitrust investigation from the Department of Justice over a deal to use a chatbot maker's artificial intelligence technology, Bloomberg reported Thursday, citing people with knowledge of the matter.

Antitrust enforcers informed Google ( GOOG ) that they are assessing whether it structured a deal with Character.AI to bypass a formal government merger review, the report said.

Google ( GOOG ) didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
