07:37 AM EDT, 04/10/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet's (GOOGL) Google ( GOOG ) was ordered Wednesday to pay a 4.6 billion ruble ($49.4 million) fine for publishing pro-Ukrainian content by a Russian court after losing an appeal, Reuters reported.
Moscow's City Court left a district court decision unchanged, Reuters reported, citing courts' press service Telegram channel.
Russian media platforms had said the fine was imposed for Google's ( GOOG ) purported failure to review what Moscow describes as extremist and LGBT-friendly content.
Google ( GOOG ) did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
