06:49 AM EDT, 09/09/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google ( GOOG ) may receive an outline by December to restore competition in online search from the US Department of Justice, Reuters reported Friday, citing prosecutors at a Washington court hearing.
A judge earlier found the company illegally monopolized the market for online search.
Prosecutors declined to mention what requirements they may propose but it would be comprehensive and take into account how the technology giant would integrate artificial intelligence into its search, the report added, citing David Dahlquist, a DOJ attorney.
Google ( GOOG ) needs a detailed proposal from prosecutors, and may also reach out to Microsoft ( MSFT ) and OpenAI for preparing a counter-argument on AI, Reuters said, citing Google ( GOOG ) attorney John Schmidtlein.
Neither Google ( GOOG ) nor the DOJ immediately responded to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
