10:13 AM EDT, 10/23/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet's (GOOGL, GOOG) Google ( GOOG ) has signed an agreement to purchase electricity from a proposed power plant that will use carbon capture and storage, Reuters reported Thursday, citing the technology company.
The 400-megawatt power plant in Decatur, Illinois, is expected to be operational in early 2030s, and will produce power by way of capturing carbon dioxide and injecting it underground, according to the report.
Financial details of the deal, which is expected to help fuel Google's ( GOOG ) data centers in the Midwest, were not disclosed, Reuters said.
Google ( GOOG ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
