01:43 PM EDT, 09/15/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google ( GOOG ) unit considered selling parts of its ad tech business to resolve antitrust concerns in Europe and the US, but the proposal was not enough for the US Justice Department, Bloomberg reported Monday, citing Jeannie Rhee, a lawyer for the company.
The Justice Department proposed a "full technical separation and divestiture" of AdX, Google's ( GOOG ) advertising exchange, the report said, citing Rhee at a hearing in Virginia federal court.
A two-week long hearing has been scheduled starting next week to decide whether the tech giant must sell off parts of its advertising business, according to the report.
Competition authorities in the US and Europe have found Google ( GOOG ) to have illegally dominated the advertising technology markets by giving its own ad tools a competitive advantage, the report said.
Google ( GOOG ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
