03:11 PM EDT, 04/15/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google ( GOOG ) is under investigation by the Japan Fair Trade Commission over alleged unfair restrictions on a search advertising partnership with Yahoo, Nikkei reported Monday.

Japan's antitrust watchdog is planning to compel Google ( GOOG ) to improve its business practices, according to the report, citing a person familiar with the situation. The company is believed to have already submitted an improvement plan, the report said.

The investigation also covers Google's ( GOOG ) search services, but the focus has been on its advertising business that is also being scrutinized by other countries, the report said.

Google ( GOOG ), Yahoo and the commission did not immediately reply to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
