12:58 PM EDT, 10/04/2024 (MT Newswires) -- GSK (GSK), Sanofi ( SNY ) , and CSL Ltd. were awarded $72 million by the US government to increase bird flu vaccine production, Bloomberg reported Friday, citing an interview with Dawn O'Connell, assistant secretary for preparedness and response at the US Department of Health and Human Services.

The funding will be used by the companies to fill vials and pre-filled syringes with vaccine ingredients, aiming to increase the US supply to of ready-to-use vaccines to 10 million doses by Q1 2025, O'Connell said.

CSL will receive $37.9 million, Sanofi ( SNY ) $23.4 million, and GSK $10.5 million to more than double the supply of bird flu vaccines in the US, Bloomberg reported.
