Market Chatter: Honda Suspends Mexico Car Production Amid Semiconductor Shortage

12:20 PM EDT, 10/29/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Honda Motor ( HMC ) has suspended vehicle production at its Celaya auto plant in Mexico following a shortage of parts linked to a dispute between the Netherlands and China over Dutch semiconductor maker Nexperia, Nikkei reported Wednesday.

The company is working to minimize the impact of the shortage which stems from standard semiconductors made by Nexperia and used in parts supplied by its business partners, according to the report.

Honda Motor ( HMC ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
