09:22 AM EDT, 07/24/2024 (MT Newswires) -- About 13,500 unionized hotel workers are planning to hold strike authorization votes in four US cities next month as negotiations with Marriott International ( MAR ) , Hilton Worldwide ( HLT ) and Hyatt Hotels ( H ) have failed to progress, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing the Unite Here union.
The votes will begin in the first week of August in Boston, San Francisco, Honolulu and Providence, Rhode Island, according to the report.
"We are disappointed that several UNITE HERE locals have chosen to take strike votes," a spokesperson from Hyatt was quoted as saying in the report. The hotel operator said it has drawn up contingency plans to avoid disruption, the report added.
None of the hospitality firms and Unite Here immediately responded to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
