06:52 AM EDT, 09/30/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Indian authorities are set to begin a forensic investigation into a fire that broke out on Saturday at a Tata Electronics factory in Tamil Nadu, which produces components for Apple ( AAPL ) iPhones, Reuters reported Monday, citing a local official.
District administrative official K.M. Sarayu said a forensic team from Chennai has been dispatched to investigate the cause of the fire.
The factory, located in Hosur, was closed for its weekly holiday on Sunday, and it is unlikely to receive permission to resume production by Monday, two people with direct knowledge of the matter told Reuters.
The fire reportedly started in a chemical storage area and has since been fully extinguished, with fumes having subsided, the district administrative official said.
Two workers hospitalized due to the incident were expected to be discharged soon.
Apple ( AAPL ) did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
