07:38 AM EDT, 10/06/2025 (MT Newswires) -- India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation is looking into the unexpected deployment of a Boeing ( BA ) jet's emergency power system midair, during an Air India flight to the UK, Bloomberg News reported Monday, citing sources familiar with the matter.

The plane's Ram Air Turbine, or RAT, was activated even without any known mechanical issues with the aircraft during the Saturday flight, sources told Bloomberg. The plane landed safely at its destination, Air India said.

According to the report, an Air India spokesperson said the plane was temporarily grounded after the incident for safety checks and is now back in the airline's fleet.

Boeing ( BA ), Air India, and India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comments.
