07:20 AM EST, 12/09/2024 (MT Newswires) -- India's Competition Commission has asked the Supreme Court to hear 23 lawsuits challenging the investigation into alleged antitrust violations by e-commerce companies Amazon.com ( AMZN ) and Walmart ( WMT )-owned (WMT) Flipkart, Reuters reported Monday, citing a Dec. 3 filing.
The legal challenges filed at Indian high courts by Samsung, Vivo, and vendors on Amazon ( AMZN ) and Flipkart's platforms aim to "debilitate and scuttle" its probe, the commission said, according to the report.
The investigation, initiated in 2020, concluded in August that Amazon ( AMZN ) and Flipkart breached antitrust laws by favoring select sellers and collaborating with smartphone makers like Samsung and Vivo to exclusively launch products online.
Amazon ( AMZN ), Flipkart, and the Competition Commission of India did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
