07:23 AM EDT, 05/16/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Intel ( INTC ) is fighting off a 376 million euro ($421.3 million) fine imposed by the European Union's competition regulator in 2022 for excluding rival products from the market, Reuters reported Friday.
According to the report, the case dates back to 2009 when the European Commission imposed a 1.06 billion euro fine on Intel ( INTC ) for blocking Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). Europe's General Court scrapped the fine in 2022 but re-imposed a 376 million euro penalty as judges agreed with a section of the Commission's 2009 decision.
The section is related to Intel's ( INTC ) payments to HP, Acer, and Lenovo between November 2002 and December 2006 for delaying rival products, Reuters added.
Intel ( INTC ) and the European Commission did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comments.
