07:22 AM EDT, 06/04/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Japanese transport ministry officials inspected Toyota Motor's ( TM ) headquarters Tuesday as part of a widening investigation into irregularities in model certification applications, multiple media outlets reported.
Aside from Toyota ( TM ), Japanese automakers Mazda, Honda, Suzuki, and Yamaha Motor also said they had submitted flawed or manipulated data to support certification applications, the reports said.
Toyota ( TM ) was the first to undergo an inspection following the ministry's notice, while the other automakers will also face scrutiny, Reuters said, citing a transport ministry official.
Toyota ( TM ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
