02:25 PM EDT, 07/10/2024 (MT Newswires) -- JetBlue Airways ( JBLU ) has requested the US Department of Transportation to disqualify United Airlines (UAL) from a round-trip flight from Washington Reagan National Airport in Virginia, Reuters reported Wednesday.
JetBlue ( JBLU ) reportedly argued United's proposed Washington to Los Angeles flight, which is one of he five flights up for grabs, violates congressional restrictions for taking off before 7 a.m. JetBlue ( JBLU ) applied for a second round-trip flight to San Juan, Puerto Rico.
United has a backup proposal for a new flight to Los Angeles.
Comments on applications are due by July 17, with decisions expected later this month, according to the report.
JetBlue ( JBLU ), United Airlines and the Transportation Department did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
