03:08 PM EDT, 03/22/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Joby Aviation ( JOBY ) is planning to launch its flying taxi service in Dubai before anywhere else, including the US, Bloomberg reported Friday, citing a senior company executive.

Bonny Simi, Joby's president of operations, told Bloomberg that Dubai's economic and regulatory support helped to "remove as many roadblocks as possible for us to move as quickly as possible and as safely as possible."

Commercial services in Dubai may begin as soon as late 2025, earlier than the early-2026 target, the report quoted Simi as saying. The company won an exclusive deal to operate air taxis in Dubai for six years.

The company did not immediately reply to a request for comment by MT Newswires.
