Market Chatter: Johnson & Johnson to Halt Linx Acid-Reflux Device Sales Outside the US
Sep 23, 2025 3:24 AM

06:14 AM EDT, 09/23/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Johnson & Johnson ( JNJ ) will stop selling its Linx Reflux Management System for acid reflux outside the US from the end of March, Bloomberg reported Tuesday, citing a company letter to doctors dated Sept. 17.

The company confirmed it was exiting the Linx business in certain countries for commercial reasons, rather than safety or efficacy concerns, Bloomberg reported.

The withdrawal would significantly reduce options for gastroesophageal reflux disease patients, and there is no direct replacement, Bloomberg quoted multiple UK surgeons as saying.

Linx is a small ring of magnetic beads implanted to support the lower esophageal sphincter, with nearly 40,000 devices have been placed globally since 2007, the report said.

Doctors also flagged potential knock-on effects for lung-transplant cases, where treating reflux is seen as important to protect transplants from being rejected, the report added.

Johnson & Johnson ( JNJ ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
