07:02 AM EDT, 09/04/2025 (MT Newswires) -- A US judge has raised objections over the terms of a Justice Department deal that lets Boeing ( BA ) avoid prosecution on charges tied to two fatal 737 MAX crashes, Reuters reported Wednesday.
Judge Reed O'Connor in Texas asked why the agreement dropped a requirement for Boeing ( BA ) to face oversight from an independent monitor and instead only hire a compliance consultant, the report said.
About two dozen relatives of crash victims traveled to the Texas courthouse to object to the deal, which also includes $444.5 million in payments to a victims fund, a $243.6 million fine, and more than $455 million for compliance, safety, and quality programs, Reuters reported.
Boeing ( BA ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
