Market Chatter: Lattice Semiconductor Mulling Offer for Intel's Altera Unit
Nov 25, 2024 4:43 AM

07:24 AM EST, 11/25/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Lattice Semiconductor ( LSCC ) is mulling an offer to purchase Intel's ( INTC ) Altera unit and is working with advisers as it seeks a private equity backer, Bloomberg News reported Saturday, citing unnamed sources familiar with the matter.

Bloomberg said Intel ( INTC ) is only looking to sell a minority stake in Altera. Sources told Bloomberg that Francisco Partners, Bain Capital, and Silver Lake Management are also looking into investing in Altera.

According to the sources private equity firms are mulling investments of about $3 billion in the Intel ( INTC ) unit but deliberations are still ongoing and there is no guarantee that any of the firms will proceed with an offer.

Bloomberg said bids for Altera are due before Thursday. According to the report, Intel ( INTC ) Chief Executive Officer Pat Gelsinger previously said the company aims to close the Altera process early next year.

Lattice Semiconductor ( LSCC ) and Intel ( INTC ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comments.
