Market Chatter: Lightspeed Commerce Open to Discussions on Going Private, Interim Chief Executive Says
Mar 25, 2024 8:21 AM

10:57 AM EDT, 03/25/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Lightspeed Commerce ( LSPD ) founder and interim Chief Executive Dax Dasilva said the company is open to having discussions about going private, La Presse reported, citing an interview with Dasilva.

The comments come after Montreal-rival Nuvei ( NVEI ) said last week it had formed a special committee of directors to evaluate certain offers and other strategic alternatives, responding to reports of the company undergoing a potential going-private transaction.

"I still believe the stock market is a good place for Lightspeed," Dasilva said in the interview. "But when you look at what is happening, you wonder if going private would be a better option," he said. "We are always open to these discussions."

Lightspeed didn't immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.

The company's shares were up 4.4% in recent trading.
