05:20 AM EST, 11/21/2025 (MT Newswires) -- JPMorgan Chase ( JPM ) , Bank of America ( BAC ) , and Citigroup ( C ) has dropped their $20 billion bailout plan for Argentina in favor of a smaller loan package, The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday, citing sources familiar with the matter.
The WSJ previously reported that the banks had been waiting on the US Treasury Department's direction on collateral and guarantees before proceeding with the financing. Sources told the newspaper that the companies are now focused on a short-term repurchase, or "repo" facility, of about $5 billion instead.
Discussions remain at an early stage and talks could still fall through, sources said.
JPMorgan Chase ( JPM ), Bank of America ( BAC ), and Citigroup ( C ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comments.
