06:15 AM EDT, 05/23/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Major US banks are in talks over their potential issuance of a joint stablecoin, which serves as a digital dollars in cryptocurrency markets, The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday, citing unnamed sources familiar with the matter.
Sources told the newspaper that talks have involved companies co-owned by Citigroup ( C ) , Wells Fargo (WFC), Bank of America (BAC), JPMorgan Chase ( JPM ) , and other major commercial banks so far. Discussions remain in early stages and the final decision would depend on legislation and other factors, the sources added.
