06:17 AM EDT, 07/23/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Mattel ( MAT ) has been approached by private equity firm L Catterton with an acquisition offer, Reuters reported Monday, citing people familiar with the matter.

The move may encourage other potential buyers to also bid for the California-based toy maker, including competitor Hasbro ( HAS ) which is aware of L Catterton's approach and is considering submitting an offer as well, the report said.

There is no certainty that L Catterton's approach will push Mattel ( MAT ) into considering a sale, the report added.

Mattel ( MAT ), L Catterton and Hasbro ( HAS ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment on the matter.
