07:06 AM EDT, 07/19/2024 (MT Newswires) -- McDonald's (MCD) has suspended operations at about 30% of its stores in Japan due to a systems outage, Bloomberg reported Thursday.

A local McDonald's spokesperson told Bloomberg the company is "currently investigating the cause and the timeline for recovery is unclear."

The spokesperson said the outage affected cash registers, leading to the closures.

McDonald's did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
