12:58 PM EDT, 08/26/2024 (MT Newswires) -- According to National Bank, media reports suggest that Alimentation Couche-Tard ( ANCTF ) may be primarily interested in acquiring Seven & i's U.S. store network.
Analyst Vishal Shreedhar cites a Financial Times article dated August 23. In that article, reference is made to analysts speculating that Couche-Tard could be interested primarily in Seven & i's U.S. store network, with the possibility that a deal might split Seven & i and leave a Japan- and Asia-focused business available for separate acquisition by private equity firms.
"Given lower risk of integration, lower deal risk, and higher possible synergies, we believe a deal focussed on North American assets would be preferable (vs. the entirety of Seven & i), partially offset by greater proportion of asset divestitures."
Couche-Tard is rated Sector Perform; with a price target of $84.
