Market Chatter: Meta Platforms' Chief AI Scientist Plans to Depart
Nov 19, 2025 3:17 PM

05:47 PM EST, 11/19/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Meta Platforms' ( META ) chief AI scientist, Yann LeCun, will leave the company by year-end to start a new company, Bloomberg reported late Wednesday, citing an internal memo.

LeCun stated in the memo that Meta will be a partner of his new company and will have access to its innovations. Details of the collaboration are yet to be finalized, a person with knowledge of the plans told Bloomberg.

LeCun reportedly found it challenging to access resources for his projects at Meta as the firm prioritized creating models to compete with rivals. His public criticism of Meta's approach could mean he had disagreements with others internally, sources told the media outlet.

LeCun's new company focuses on Advanced Machine Intelligence, which is trained on visual and other sensory data to make predictions about the physical world, according to the report.

Meta Platforms ( META ) did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
