11:30 AM EST, 11/21/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Meta Platforms ( META ) is moving into electricity trading as it looks to secure long-term power supply for its artificial intelligence infrastructure, Bloomberg reported Friday, citing an interview with Urvi Parekh, the company's head of global energy.
Trading electricity would give the company the flexibility to enter into long-term power supply contracts, Parekh said, adding that Meta is initially focused on power from PJM Interconnection and the Midcontinent Independent System Operator, the report said.
Meta is joining other large tech firms, including Microsoft ( MSFT ) and Apple ( AAPL ) , that have sought approval to trade electricity amid rising power needs from data centers used for AI, the report said.
Meta did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
