Market Chatter: Meta Platforms' Instagram Reaches 3 Billion Monthly Active Users
Sep 24, 2025 9:32 AM

12:00 PM EDT, 09/24/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Meta Platforms' ( META ) Instagram unit has reached 3 billion monthly active users and is making adjustments to its interface to focus on Reels and private messaging features, Bloomberg reported Wednesday, citing Adam Mosseri who heads the unit.

A new test in India and South Korea will have the app open directly to Reels instead of the traditional feed, the report said.

Instagram reportedly also plans a new feature allowing users to influence their content feed by selecting preferred topics.

The updates come as Instagram shifts away from its photo-based origins, with video now driving more than half of user activity on the platform, Bloomberg reported.

Mosseri reportedly said that these efforts are crucial to keeping Instagram culturally relevant as it competes with TikTok and other social platforms.

Meta did not immediately respond to a request for a comment from MT Newswires.
