11:06 AM EST, 02/03/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Meta Platforms' ( META ) overall investment in virtual and augmented reality is set to surpass $100 billion in 2025, the Financial Times reported Monday.
The Facebook and Instagram parent sold 1 million sets of its Ray-Ban smart glasses last year, the news outlet reported, citing a person familiar with the matter.
The social media giant's cumulative investment in virtual and augmented reality product development and acquisitions has now topped $80 billion since the start of the initiative in 2014, the FT reported, citing analyst estimates and the publication's own calculations based on Meta disclosures.
Meta declined to comment, according to the report.
The company didn't immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
