07:20 AM EST, 11/15/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Meta Platforms ( META ) plans to appeal the court rulings that allowed schools in the US to proceed with lawsuits accusing social media applications of contributing to the youth mental health crisis, Bloomberg News reported Friday.

According to the report, the company filed notices on Thursday to request that the US Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals review separate court orders that rejected its claim to dismiss the complaints.

Bloomberg said the orders were issued by a federal judge in California last month, ruling in favor of 34 attorneys general who sued Meta Platforms ( META ) for the alleged harmful effects of its Facebook and Instagram platforms.

Meta Platforms ( META ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
