Market Chatter: Meta Platforms to Cut Around 600 Roles From AI Unit

09:24 AM EDT, 10/22/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Meta Platforms ( META ) is said to be cutting around 600 positions from its artificial intelligence unit even as hiring for the newer TBD Lab continues, Axios reported Wednesday, citing an internal memo.

The tech company hopes that a reorganization will create a more agile operation as it concluded that its long-standing AI efforts have become overly bureaucratic, Axios said.

The cut will affect Meta's FAIR AI research unit, product-related AI and AI infrastructure units, the report said, adding that the company is encouraging affected employees to apply for other jobs within the company.

Meta Platforms ( META ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
