07:08 AM EST, 12/05/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Turkey's competition authority ended its probe of Meta Platforms ( META ) sharing of data between Threads and Instagram, Reuters reported Thursday, citing the regulator.

The regulator has decided that a commitment made by Meta to allow users to sign up for Threads without signing up for Instagram allayed its concerns, the report said.

Meta has also reassured the regulator that data obtained through Threads will not be shared with Instagram unless users opt to merge their accounts, according to Reuters.

Meta shut down Threads in Turkey earlier this year to comply with the investigation.

Meta did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
