Market Chatter: Meta to Reduce Reliance on Google, Microsoft With New AI Search Engine
Nov 3, 2024 12:51 PM

11:56 AM EDT, 10/28/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Meta Platforms ( META ) is developing an artificial intelligence-backed search engine that will provide users with conversational answers about current events through its Meta AI chatbot, The Information reported Monday, citing unnamed sources.

Sources said Meta looks to reduce its reliance on Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google Search and Microsoft's ( MSFT ) Bing through the project and it could also serve as a backup should either of its search engine partners cancel their agreement.

Meta Platforms ( META ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
