07:35 PM EDT, 07/02/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Meta Platforms Inc ( META ) CEO Mark Zuckerberg told an internal town hall Thursday that AI agent development had not accelerated as expected over the past four months, Reuters reported Thursday, citing a recording of the meeting.
Zuckerberg said a recent company reorganization involving job cuts was not as clean as it could have been and that executives had miscalculated on timing, the report said.
According to the report, Zuckerberg said top executives were worried in January and February that the company wasn't moving fast enough, and were optimistic at the time about tools like Anthropic's Claude Code.
He said the anticipated trajectory of agentic development has not materialized and that bets tied to the restructuring have yet to pay off, though he expects more meaningful benefits from AI investment within three to six months, Reuters reported.
Meta did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
