07:52 AM EDT, 10/17/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Micron Technology's ( MU ) planned $100 billion semiconductor megafab in Onondaga County will be linked to a power substation, with the approval by New York state regulators of a new underground transmission line, Reuters reported Friday, citing Governor Kathy Hochul.
The report said the two-mile, 345-kilovolt line will connect the existing Clay substation to Micron's proposed facility, providing essential power for the project.
The New York State Public Service Commission also approved the environmental and construction plans for the first phase of the project, including the expansion of the Clay substation and installation of equipment to connect it to the Micron site, according to the report.
The megafab is expected to generate over 50,000 jobs in the next 20 years, including 9,000 direct positions at Micron, Reuters said.
