07:39 AM EDT, 04/08/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Microsoft ( MSFT ) and Alphabet's (GOOGL, GOOG) cloud computing partnerships with artificial intelligence companies came under scrutiny by US senators over antitrust concerns, Reuters reported Tuesday, citing letters.
US Senators Elizabeth Warren and Ron Wyden of Oregon asked for details on Alphabet's Google ( GOOG ) partnership with AI startup Anthropic and Microsoft's ( MSFT ) tie-up with ChatGPT parent OpenAI, the report said.
"We are concerned that corporate partnerships within the AI sector discourage competition, circumvent our antitrust laws, and result in fewer choices and higher prices for businesses and consumers using AI tools," the senators wrote, Reuters reported.
Microsoft ( MSFT ) and Google ( GOOG ) did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
