Mar 15, 2024 12:15 PM

02:46 PM EDT, 03/15/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Microsoft's ( MSFT ) biggest customers are now evaluating if dependence on the company's cybersecurity software bundle compromises the security of their data, the Information reported Friday.

The US State Department started to move its stored data to servers of Amazon's ( AMZN ) Amazon Web Services and Alphabet's (GOOG) Google Cloud after Microsoft ( MSFT ) revealed a security breach last year, the report added, citing a technical adviser to the State Department and an industry executive.

The department is negotiating bigger deals with rival cloud providers, according to the sources.

Microsoft ( MSFT ) shares were down 2% in recent trading.

The company did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
