11:07 AM EST, 03/06/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Microsoft ( MSFT ) plans to invest an additional 5.4 billion rand ($296.81 million) in artificial intelligence infrastructure in South Africa, Reuters reported Thursday, citing Microsoft ( MSFT ) Vice Chair and President, Brad Smith.

The company also plans to cover the cost of technical certification exams for 50,000 individuals in high-demand digital skills, Smith said at an event in Johannesburg, according to the report.

Microsoft ( MSFT ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
