06:35 AM EDT, 06/28/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Russian hackers who breached Microsoft's ( MSFT ) systems and accessed staff inboxes earlier this year also stole customer emails, Reuters reported on Thursday, citing the company's email statement.

"This week we are continuing notifications to customers who corresponded with Microsoft ( MSFT ) corporate email accounts that were exfiltrated by the Midnight Blizzard threat actor," a Microsoft ( MSFT ) spokesperson told Reuters in an emailed statement.

Microsoft ( MSFT ) is sharing the compromised emails with affected customers but did not specify the number of impacted customers or stolen emails, according to the report.

"This provides additional details for previously notified customers and includes new notifications," the spokesperson told Reuters, adding, "We're committed to keeping our customers informed as our investigation continues."

Microsoft ( MSFT ) did not immediately respond to Reuters request for comment.
