The company is set to introduce a new version of its Surface Pro tablet and Surface Laptop having Qualcomm ( QCOM ) chips based on Arm Holdings' ( ARM ) architecture, the report said, adding that the unveiling will take place on Microsoft's ( MSFT ) Redmond, Washington, campus.
The in-person event is open to journalists and industry analysts only, Reuters said.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite chips have a so-called neural processing unit that boosts AI-focused applications, the report said.
Microsoft ( MSFT ) partnered with Qualcomm ( QCOM ) in 2016 to transition Windows to Arm's chip designs, and Qualcomm's ( QCOM ) exclusive rights to Windows devices are ending this year, the report added.
Microsoft ( MSFT ), Qualcomm ( QCOM ), and Arm did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
