02:52 PM EST, 11/10/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Microsoft ( MSFT ) has launched an unconventional marketing campaign to boost its Copilot chatbot among younger consumers, leveraging lifestyle influencers to challenge OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's (GOOGL) Gemini, Bloomberg reported Monday.
The company reported 150 million monthly Copilot users, compared with 800 million weekly for ChatGPT and 650 million monthly for Google's Gemini. Microsoft ( MSFT ) aims to position Copilot as a personal companion rather than just a business tool.
Consumer chief marketing officer Yusuf Mehdi said the strategy involves influencers using Copilot as their preferred chatbot and sharing it with their followers to drive adoption.
Influencers such as Alix Earle and twins Brigette and Danielle Pheloung have posted viral content demonstrating Copilot's use for lifestyle, fashion, and personal advice, generating millions of views.
Microsoft ( MSFT ) and Google did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
Shares of Microsoft ( MSFT ) and Google were up 1.6% and 4.1% respectively, in recent trading.
