Market Chatter: Microsoft-Backed OpenAI CEO Sam Altman Denies Plans to Receive Equity Stake
Oct 2, 2024 11:57 PM

08:39 AM EDT, 09/27/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Microsoft ( MSFT )-backed (MSFT) OpenAI chief executive officer Sam Altman told an all-hands meeting that recent media reports suggesting he will receive a large "equity stake" in the artificial intelligence company are "just not true," CNBC reported late Thursday.

These media reports followed a decision Wednesday by OpenAI's board to consider making the company a for-profit entity.

Regarding the possibility of such plans in the future, Altman said "there are no current plans" for him to be given ownership equity, the report said, quoting a person in attendance.

OpenAI did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
