02:56 PM EST, 03/05/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Microsoft ( MSFT ) backed OpenAI had talks with Singapore's Temasek Holdings about a potential investment in the ChatGPT maker, The Financial Times reported Tuesday.
OpenAI Chief Executive Sam Altman met with senior executives from Temasek Holdings multiple times in recent months, the report said, citing two people with knowledge of the talks.
Temasek originally planned to invest in Altman's venture capital fund Hydrazine but recent discussions covered OpenAI, another person familiar with the talks said, according to the report.
Talks are in early stages, and there is no agreement on the investment size, the report said.
OpenAI and Temasek declined to comment, the FT said.
Microsoft ( MSFT ), OpenAI and Temasek did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
Microsoft ( MSFT ) shares fell 3.4% in recent Tuesday trading.
