05:02 AM EST, 11/26/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Microsoft ( MSFT )-backed (MSFT) OpenAI projects that at least 220 million of weekly users of its generative artificial intelligence chatbot ChatGPT will pay for a subscription, The Information reported Tuesday, citing a person familiar with the matter.

The AI firm estimates that by 2030, 8.5% of a projected 2.6 billion weekly users will subscribe to ChatGPT, according to the report.

Microsoft ( MSFT ) has invested billions of dollars into OpenAI.

OpenAI didn't immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
