OpenAI now reportedly expects to expend more than $8 billion this year, roughly $1.5 billion above earlier expectations, and over $17 billion next year.
The cash burn is forecast to rise to about $35 billion in 2027 and $45 billion in 2028, and the company plans to spend nearly $100 billion later this decade on servers it would control, the news outlet reported.
Training and inference compute costs are major drivers, with training costs projected at about $9 billion this year and $19 billion next year, and more than $150 billion expected for inference compute from 2025-30, the Information reported.
OpenAI raised its revenue outlook to $13 billion for this year and anticipates about $200 billion by 2030, with ChatGPT driving a large share of the increase, the media outlet added.
Microsoft ( MSFT ) and OpenAI did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
