03:38 PM EDT, 06/09/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Microsoft ( MSFT )-backed (MSFT) OpenAI has reached $10 billion in annual recurring revenue backed by ChatGPT growth, CNBC reported Monday, citing a company spokesperson.

The total includes revenue from OpenAI's consumer products, ChatGPT business tools and its application programming interface services, but excludes licensing income from Microsoft ( MSFT ) and one-time deals, the media outlet reported.

OpenAI had about $5.5 billion in annual recurring revenue for the previous year and posted a loss of roughly $5 billion in 2024 as it scaled operations, CNBC reported.

The company aims to reach $125 billion in annual revenue by 2029, CNBC reported, citing a person familiar with its internal plans.

OpenAI and Microsoft ( MSFT ) did not immediately respond to requests for a comment from MT Newswires.
