Market Chatter: Microsoft-Backed OpenAI Reports $4.3 Billion Revenue in H1

07:07 AM EDT, 09/30/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Microsoft ( MSFT ) -funded OpenAI generated about $4.3 billion in revenue in H1 2025, a 16% increase from its total revenue for the entire previous year, The Information reported, citing financial disclosures made to shareholders.

According to the report, OpenAI incurred $2.5 billion in losses, largely driven by expenses related to research and development for artificial intelligence and the operation of ChatGPT.

OpenAI is expected to be on track to meet its full-year revenue projection of $13 billion and $8.5 billion of cash burn, the report added.

Microsoft ( MSFT ) is OpenAI's largest investor, cloud provider, and commercial partner, integrating its models into products like Azure and Copilot while OpenAI remains independently governed.

OpenAI did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
